DIY Valentines Gift Ideas: Homemade Message Center

I made this for my boyfriend last Valentine’s day and he loves it.

Take a piece of plywood (at least 2 ft by 2 ft), cover it with quilt batting, and then cover it with fabric. You can just wrap the fabric and batting around and staple it on the backside.

Next take some ribbon and stretch it across the board in a crisscross pattern. It looks best if these run parallel to the diagonal. Wrap the ribbon around and staple to the back.

Where the ribbons cross each other, tack them down and cover the tack with a button.

Now tuck pictures, notes, ticket stubs, etc. under the ribbon and you have a memory message board.

I made this in the colors of my boyfriend’s alma mater and found buttons with their mascot. This kept it from being too „girly” and also showed him I had him in mind the whole time.
