A Simple YES!

Heart shaped necklace

This is a little bit more expensive than some of the other ideas on this site, but it is still fairly cheap.

When my fiancé left for boot camp in July I thought he would be home in eight weeks, only to find out he was going straight to „A” school and I would not get to see him for another 4 months.

He had written a very sweet and sincere letter to me at the end of boot camp asking me to marry him. I wrote back and said yes, but that wasn’t enough. I wanted to show him that I really, truly wanted to be with him for the rest of my life and that I really love him, but I didn’t know how I could show him that.

During „A” school he told me I could send him small charms if I wanted to, just as long as they weren’t bigger than his dog tag. So, I went in search for the perfect charm, but the best one I could find was a sterling silver heart. Unfortunately, it was plain, but I got it anyway just in case I came up with an idea.

Later that week, I took it to an engraver and had „I love you” with our anniversary date engraved on one side and on the back I had „YES” engraved so he would always know that I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life. I sent him the charm a few days later and he said it actually brought tears to his eyes and it was very sweet.

When he came home recently, he was wearing his dog tags and right behind them was the charm I sent him, just like he said.

The most expensive part to this is the engraving, but the excitement in his voice when he called me was priceless.
