My boyfriend was going to be gone in Europe for 36 days last July, which was going to be so hard because I was used to seeing him every day.
We have this little journal that we keep, and he wasn’t returning it to me, which made me slightly annoyed. He would just say, „I feel bad, but you’ll see why I’m not returning it.” Well the day came that he had to leave, and I gave him a little picture book of us, which I had made. I thought that was a pretty creative idea–but he really showed me up.
He pulled out a folder and inside of it were 36 pieces of paper, all 1 page, single-spaced typed. He started back in Feb., writing a letter to me for each day he was to be gone, staying up as late as 3a.m. to make sure he had one for each day. I had no clue at all what he had been doing for the 6 months, so this was a total surprise.
I read 1 letter per day at bedtime, and each one made me cry just knowing how much time, effort, and love he put into each letter. It was the best gift I have ever received.
